You know, one game from my childhood that really

is jumping rope. To , we’d play it by swinging a long rope in a steady rhythm while one or two kids jumped over it, chanting rhymes or counting jumps to see who could last the longest; sometimes we’d with tricks like double jumps or crisscrossing the rope. I played it in Hanoi around 2010, usually with my neighborhood friends or cousins, often in the courtyard after school, laughing and tripping over each other.

Now, why don’t kids play it much these days? Honestly, it’s like this simple game

by a flashier world, you know? With smartphones and video games , jumping rope feels too basic or low-tech compared to . Plus, urban spaces are shrinking—courtyards and open streets where we used to play are now packed with cars or buildings, so there’s less r group games like this. I also think parents today push structured activities like sports clubs over free play, and jumping rope doesn’t have the same organized appeal. It’s a shame because it was such a fun way to bond and , but I guess kids now are just digital adventures instead of a rope and a rhyme.
