The place that comes to mind is the Saigon Zoo & Botanical Gardens, a vibrant spot in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City where I got to see all sorts of animals up close.

To tell you a little bit about when I went there, it in April 2024, during a school holiday break. I’d been meaning to visit for ages, and that weekend, the weather was perfect for a day out. As for who I went with, I tagged along with my younger sister and parents. We all pitched in for the entrance fee, and my sister was

the whole way. When it comes to what animals I saw there, we spotted majestic elephants spraying water, playful monkeys swinging from branches, and colorful birds like parrots and peacocks . There were also tigers and a few reptiles, like a massive python .

Now, how did I feel about the place? Honestly, it was like stepping into a living classroom mixed with a jungle adventure, and I was

we walked through the gates. The gardens themselves were a treat, with towering trees and flowerbeds that made you forget you were in a bustling city, but the animals —they’re as lively as it gets. I remember watching the elephants and feeling this awe, like they were gentle giants sharing their secrets, though it a bit seeing them in enclosures. My sister’s squeals of delight at the monkeys, who were mimicking us right back, had me cracking up—it was pure, unfiltered joy. It also in me; I learned about from the info signs, which made me reflect on how fragile wildlife can be. The place felt like a bridge between the wild and the urban, reminding me why protecting nature matters . We spent hours wandering, stopping for ice cream to cool off, and I felt this rare calm, away from my phone and the daily grind. Sure, some enclosures seemed a tad outdated, which made me wish for bigger spaces, but overall, it was uplifting, like a shot of wonder. I left feeling inspired, with sharing our world, and I’ve been itching to go back with friends. It’s like a hidden gem that recharges your soul, you know?
