The person who comes to mind is my university professor, Dr. Nguyen, who’s been a real inspiration in protecting the environment.

To tell you a little bit about who she is, Dr. Nguyen is a 45-year-old environmental science professor at my university in Ho Chi Minh City. As for when she does this, she’s active year-round, balancing her teaching with

, especially during semester breaks when she leads community projects. When it comes to what she has done, Dr. Nguyen has to clean up the Saigon River, organizing monthly volunteer cleanups that remove plastic waste and water pollution. She’s also worked with students to plant over 500 trees around campus and nearby parks to and improve air quality. On top of that, she runs workshops on sustainable living, teaching people how to reduce waste and , like composting or using reusable bags.

Now, why do I think she does this? Honestly, it feels like her mission is driven by a deep love for the planet and a belief that everyone can make a difference, which is as inspiring as it gets. I think she’s motivated by the state of our environment—Vietnam’s rivers and cities face serious pollution, and she’s seen firsthand how plastic waste chokes waterways, like the 10 tons of trash we pulled from the river last year. Her work as a teacher also pushes her to

; she often says, “If we don’t act, who will?” which sticks with me. I remember joining one of her cleanups, and seeing her with us, smiling despite the hard work, showed me her genuine commitment. I believe she does it to inspire the next generation—her students, like me, are now more conscious about our environmental footprint. It’s like she’s , not just trees. She also seems driven by hope, believing small actions add up, like ripples in a pond. Her passion makes me feel optimistic and motivated, like I can contribute too, and it’s why I admire her so much. She’s like for our world.
